From 1 June 2018, the Canterbury Skills and Employment Hub will no longer be accepting new vacancies or registrations by employers or job seekers in preparation for its permanent closure on Friday 29 June 2018. The reason for the Hub’s closure is the reducing demand from employers in the region for additional workers, particularly in relation to the rebuild.

The last day on which a vacancy can be lodged with the Hub is Friday 1 June 2018. By Friday 29 June 2018, the Hub will complete processing any vacancy that was listed with it on or before Friday 1 June.

Welcome to the Canterbury
Skills & Employment Hub.

Whether you’re a job seeker wanting to play your part in the Canterbury rebuild, a graduate looking to match your skills with the right job, or a Canterbury employer looking for staff, you’ve come to the right place.

The Hub provides job-matching, information-sharing, and immigration facilitation services, with a dedicated team of Skills Brokers on hand to help you make the right choices and achieve what you’re looking for.

Our focus is on matching job seekers in Canterbury, and then from the rest of New Zealand with employment opportunities in the Canterbury region. But we also know that some vacancies may require employers to look further afield.  Where there is a domestic shortage of suitable workers, the Hub can help employers access international labour markets through a streamlined immigration process.

Designed to help employers and job seekers, the Hub is a collaboration between the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority, the Ministry of Social Development and the Tertiary Education Commission.

The Hub can advise on potential sources of skills and labour, provide market information and help match job seekers to your vacancies.
